Beloved pianist, songwriter and singer Regina Spektor is coming back to Tel Aviv for the third time, closing the worldwide tour of her recent 2016 album “Remember Us to Life” that has gotten excellent reviews.
Regina Spektor, whose past concerts in Israel were sold out in 2007 and 2013, will perform again for one time only in Ra’anana Amphitheater on Saturday, August 19.
Grammy and VMA nominee Regina Spektor was born in Russia, where she started her classical music training at the age of six and immigrated shortly after to the New York, where she began writing her own original songs. Her first Album came out in 2001 and a year later she already released her second album, “songs”, but her real success started after her third album, Soviet Kitsch, was out in 2004 and the fans started pouring in.
Her international breakthrough came in 2006 with her album “Begin to Hope” that reached gold status and sold more than 500,000 copies (!!!). The album includes the single “Fidelity” that is very popular in Israel and in the rest of the world to this day and was used as part of the soundtrack of TV shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy”. Her success only became stronger when her fifth album “Far” and her sixth album “What We Saw From The Cheap Seats” got to the third place in Billboard's album chart.
In 2013 Spektor created the theme song of the successful Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black”, called “You’ve Got Time” that also became a radio hit and got her her first Grammy Award nomination. The following year, she sang “Love Me or Leave Me” for the HBO historical crime series “Boardwalk Empire”.
